Guidelines and clinical practice for basic health maintenance Many factors play a role in maintaining good health, but posture and the skeletal structure play a particularly important one. Accurate alignment of the spine, from the pelvis to the spinal column, including the lower back, neck, and shoulders, often eliminates physical discomfort. We have focused on this correlation and has developed a three-pronged business of clinical outpatient services, research papers, and the development and marketing of products that take the skeletal structure into consideration, using our high level of expertise and experience in this field. In particular, in the clinical field, we have studied the human skeleton’s shape formation process, taking into consideration the fact that humans are organisms living under gravitational and atmospheric pressures on the ground and have bone shapes that adapt to dynamic factors like impact loading. We are presently studying the correlation between stress transfer point discontinuity at each joint in musculoskeletal injuries and associated symptoms. Our aim is to utilize these findings in treatment approaches, particularly considering the skeletal shape formation process in the affected symptomatic area.
Positioning on proceeding with product development In developing and selling products that take the human skeleton into account, we specialize in items used in daily life including chairs, pillows, and support clothing. These products are designed to assist the correct positioning of the pelvis and spine and to reduce the strain on the body caused by prolonged use. They contribute significantly to improving people’s daily quality of life, especially in today's society where many people work at desks.
In addition, since many of our products are in direct contact with the human body, we have developed them with consideration given to the safety and security of the materials. In addition, we strive to provide products that are also valuable from the perspective of sustainability, by carrying out product development that takes the global environment into consideration in ways like carbon footprint efforts. By using renewable materials, reducing energy consumption in the manufacturing process, and designing products with long service life, we can aim for consumer health and comfort while minimizing our impact on the environment.
What our laboratory aims to achieve through awareness-raising activities We offer educational programs for the general public based on the knowledge and experience we have gained in our business. In this way, we help achieve a healthier society by spreading information and techniques useful for maintaining and improving health on an individual level.
At the same time, the knowledge we gain through writing research papers enhances the development of methodologies based on scientific evidence. When we can share this research at academic conferences, in journals, etc., and have it widely accepted in the industry, that will raise the overall standard of treatment techniques. It may also lead to the discovery of new treatments and prevention methods through academic research, which can contribute to the advancement of medicine over the long term.
In this way, our activities aim to contribute to society not only in terms of direct treatment and product development, but also in terms of research and education. Our goal is to improve people's quality of life through skeletal and postural health. -

TOKAI ECOBOARD Co., Ltd.
TOKAI ECOBOARD Co., Ltd. began focusing on environmental issues about 30 years ago. Through our technological development aimed at helping to bring about a recycling-oriented society, we developed a material called ECO BOARD. We succeeded in mass-producing Ecoboard, and with a passion for solving issues in various manufacturing industries—especially for logistics-related companies—we have been promoting its use for around 20 years. One of the founding principles of our company is having a fair, unbiased spirit. We are achieving open-minded impartiality by being environmentally conscious across the board through the manufacture, processing, and sale of ECO BOARD and ECO BOARD-related products.
Patented technology results in the strongest eco-materials. The structure of ECO BOARD and other Tokai Ecoboard products are based on the company's own original patents. Unlike ordinary cardboard, the corrugated sheets are arranged perpendicularly and securely bonded to the top and bottom of the board surface, ensuring unmatched strength and sturdiness.
Specific applications for ECO BOARD Our ECO BOARD is the result of over 25 years of research and development.
The board's special structure gives it the ability to withstand a compression load 700 kg per 10 square centimeters while retaining cardboard's original characteristics of lighter weight, ease of processing, and thermal insulation.
This gives it to applications in a variety of fields, including transport pallets, cushioning materials, partitions, and flooring, while also providing freedom in design. In addition, the boards can be used during disasters as partitions for private spaces, changing rooms, nursing rooms, and other spaces, and can be used for sleeping areas in evacuation shelters as well.
Contributing to a recycling-oriented society with ECO BOARD ECO BOARD's greatest advantage for the oncoming recycling-oriented society is the fact it is 100% recyclable. ECO BOARD's usage cycle is described below.
Design and Production
• Uses recycled paper waste
• Manufactured with minimal raw material waste
Distribution and Retail Sales
• Lightweight, which reduces fuel consumption during transportation
Use
• Enables freedom in design
• Safe due to nonuse of polluting substances; requires no fumigation
Recovery
• Ensures a stable recovery path for waste paper
Recycling
• Initiatives to improve the quality of recycled materials and to review and reduce the amount of energy resources used in the recycling process.
The cardboard recycling system relies on the close relationship between the wastepaper, paper manufacturing, and cardboard industries.
As a member of this system, we continue striving to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions and help achieve a low-carbon society.
SDGs and SBT initiatives also involving logistics As one aspect of our efforts to promote the SDGs, Tokai Ecoboard holds lectures and other events for employees, providing each employee with opportunities to consider how we can meet each of the SDG targets. We also strive to make our customers know that using our paper pallets contributes to carbon neutrality. Our sales promotion aims to support the development of a circular economy, helping achieve multiple SDG goals.
Additionally, there is an estimated difference of over 200 kg between wooden pallets and ECO BOARD pallets when used in one oversized hauling truck. Reducing fuel consumption during transport simultaneously reduces greenhouse gas emissions from ICE vehicles. We have partnered with logistics companies to create a group offering comprehensive support from packaging to storage and delivery, while raising environmental awareness across the group. -
MIZUNO KAGU Co., Ltd.
MIZUNO KAGU Co., Ltd. operates the CONNECT showroom and store, where we offer original custom-made furniture based on the concept of "a place where people can connect with each other". We also offer various brands including one for imported Scandinavian furniture and one for original custom-made furniture designed with professional storage techniques.
Furthermore, we have been working on the "Kodama Project" to connect people in the mountains upstream and the towns downstream. In this project, we conduct hands-on programs in the form of experiential parent-children tours in upstream mountains where the cedar lumber used for our desks is sourced. Participants were encouraged to consider their connection with local resources.
High-quality, fully custom-made furniture that radiates craftsmanship Mizuno Kagu has been dealing with furniture, primarily through woodworking, since the company's establishment as a woodworking factory over 70 years ago.
We offer fully made-to-order furniture that combines design and functionality with unstinting attention to detail to suit the customer's lifestyle and preferences.
Whether it's a table made from a single slab of solid natural wood, or perhaps a set of chairs that perfectly matches our lifestyle, Mizuno Kagu craftsmen put all of their heart into the furniture they create.
Creating special places with attractive furniture Mizuno Kagu comprises a number of different brands. Our fragship brand, CONNECT, is based on the concept of "a place where people connect," connecting customers with materials (valuable techniques and materials), tools (tools imbued the maker's feelings), and time (irreplaceable moments of richness).
Our NORTE line presents imported Scandinavian-designed furniture featuring the warmth of wood. The simple yet sophisticated designs blend into the surrounding space to produce a comfortable atmosphere.
Creating a 3R cycle with single-ply, solid wood Established to connect people in the upstream mountains with those in towns downstream, the Kodama Project involves development of furniture and structures made with wild cedar that has never been processed since being planted in the forest area of Higashi-Shirakawa Village, Kamo-gun, Gifu Prefecture. The project also includes sales of foods made using tomatoes and other local ingredients, while plans include lodging field trips for children to experience the mountain environment and the warmth of wood.
The project, where people share roles and thoughts becomes the catalyst for new ideas and work. Not simply about bringing effective use of local resources, but also conveying the feelings to the next generation, it fosters an environment in which innovation begets further innovation. In addition, producing furniture from domestic wood also reduces CO2 and other emissions from transporting imported wood.
Recycling single-ply, solid wood creates a brighter future for the Earth. With the "Rewood" brand, we are developing a business that purchases disused low, single slab tables from all over Japan and reprocesses them to provide new value. Since the launch in 2016, we have been aimed to prevent excessive deforestation by reusing rare wood.
A single slab of natural wood, a blessing from nature, changes in character and gains more depth and charm as it ages with use. This initiative is an opportunity to ponder the importance of continuing to use things for long periods and passing them on to the next user, rather than consuming them. It truly contributes to meeting SDG Goal 12, "Responsible Consumption and Production" and Goal 15, "Life on Land."
